Match report and Upcoming fixtures
Our under 13’s had a run out against Cork Harlequins on Saturday 10th May, on what was an overcast and dull day. The home side were well beaten by the visitors, who having accumulated 93 runs from a soft wicket and slow outfield, bowled out Lismore for a meagre 23 runs. Performances of note for Harlequins include J.Buss (25), J.Whittaker (18 and 2 for 3) and I. Wheelock (2 for 3), whilst on the Lismore side the only performances of note were the bowlers J.Kuhne ( 4 for 6 from 5 overs) and G. Stuart (2 for 9).

Lismore were a bit clueless when it came to batting and scoring runs and left many a bye opportunity go a begging. However, it was enjoyed by all and such mistakes are easily corrected in training, so there are some positives to take away from their first game together. So we look forward to improving our performances with upcoming fixtures for the Midleton on the 30th May, Matches against waterford and a Cricket blitz in June.
The adults kick the season off a bit later than expected with the first of a three match series against Cork County 3rds on the 31st May. Both clubs have seen a groundswell of new adult members join who are beginners or used to play many years ago and would want to get back into the game. This inaugural series is designed for them, where a trophy and shield (yet to be named) will be competed for over the coming season. Match days will consist of a 40 over game followed by a T20 match. The 40 over trophy game is set up for both teams to field adult beginners / refreshers, to give them a taste of something more than a friendly. The T20 shield game will see stronger teams taking to the field.
Then on the 14th June, the club hosts a Dublin Writers XI in a match held as a fringe event to the Lismore Travel Writers Festival (see http://www.lismoreimmrama.com). The Dublin Writers XI are associated with the famous Theatrical Cavaliers, but cricket and an interest in writing is a perquisite to selection. This will be a great opportunity for those who would like to fit in a game around talks and workshops from writers such as Robert Fisk, Charley Boorman and Jonathan Shackleton that will be occurring over the weekend.
If you are attending the festival and would like to play in the match on the Sunday, please contact the secretary at firstname.lastname@example.org, and we will look to welcome you into either side.
Will keep the blog updated with match reports as they happen, and in the meantime, here are some more photos from the U13 match.
